The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Everything to know about Requests v2.26.0
Starting in v2.26.0 for Python 3 the new default library for encoding detection will be charset_normalizer which is MIT licensed. The library itself is relatively young so a lot of work has gone into making sure users aren't broken with this change including extensive tests against real-life websites and comparing the results against chardet to ensure better performance and accuracy in every case.
- ✏️ Charset-Normalizer v2 - Charset Detection - x2 faster than Chardet - x3 more encoding supported! - And BC with Chardet
- Charset-Normalizer 2.0, x2 faster than Chardet, x3 more encodings supported
- Python Chardet alternative, Charset-Normalizer version 1.4 available

Is it possible on Python?
Yeah my hunch is that a combination of nltk, python-Levenshtein, numpy for language processing, pandas for gathering results and scrapy for web scraping should make it possible. Sadly such a project probably requires at least a month or two worth of training in Python to prototype. Good luck OP.

Four Useful Python Libraries You Don't Know About
I've used fuzzy-wuzzy and it is pretty slow if you can't install python-Levenshtein (which I couldn't, though I don't remember why). I ended up uninstalling it and using a custom matching algorithm for search in my app.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing Charset Normalizer and Levenshtein you can also consider the following projects:
chardet - Python character encoding detector
fuzzywuzzy - Fuzzy String Matching in Python
xpinyin - Translate Chinese hanzi to pinyin (拼音) by Python, 汉字转拼音
jellyfish - 🪼 a python library for doing approximate and phonetic matching of strings.
pyfiglet - An implementation of figlet written in Python
TextDistance - 📐 Compute distance between sequences. 30+ algorithms, pure python implementation, common interface, optional external libs usage.
ftfy - Fixes mojibake and other glitches in Unicode text, after the fact.
shortuuid - A generator library for concise, unambiguous and URL-safe UUIDs.
