CSS is no longer a core skill
The pitch is basically "Tailwind without all the tooling"[1] so I'm excited to hear what you think.

How to set up hgrid-css in a Svelte project with Sass
As part of documenting the CSS framework hgrid-css I made a few recipes on how to set it up with Svelte and other generators and frameworks. Let me know if I got it right:

CSS Frameworks Without Node, Gulp, Grunt, Sass, React, Vue, Etc.
`hgrid-css` comes both as an npm package and as a single css file, you decide. Check out hgrid.io and the prebuilt files on GitHub: https://github.com/ahansson/hgrid-css/tree/main/dist

I like Tailwind, but...
I always worked in CSS with Tailwind-like utility classes that I wrote myself, but just like OP I hated the extra overhead and just wanted something that was fast and easy to configure and figure out, and lightweight. So I made HGRID where you can work with Sass for Node driven projects or pre-built plain CSS from a CDN or as a local file if you prefer. Check it out, maybe it can fit your needs.
