The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Python deserves a good in-memory cache library!
If you know Caffeine(Java)/Ristretto(Go)/Moka(Rust), you know what Theine is. Python deserves a good in-memory cache library.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing cachetools and theine you can also consider the following projects:
DiskCache - Python disk-backed cache (Django-compatible). Faster than Redis and Memcached. Pure-Python.
theine-core - theine-py rust core
Beaker - WSGI middleware for sessions and caching
Caffeine - A high performance caching library for Java
django-cacheops - A slick ORM cache with automatic granular event-driven invalidation.
huak - My experimental python package manager.
dogpile.cache
cacheme - Asyncio cache framework for Python
Chest - Simple spill-to-disk dictionary
LIRS2 - LIRS2 source code & miss ratio curves of 115 traces
Zict - Useful Mutable Mappings
moka - A high performance concurrent caching library for Rust
