State of C++ development on VSCode?
I see a large number of C++ packages and from reading the descriptions alone I cannot tell what is "useful" or what and how things go together. I'm hoping to get some clarification on them. The awesome-vscode github lists multiple packages (I'm sure there are many more) and I have no idea how they intertwine.

Remote Debugging with Emacs?
Following on from what /u/db48x writes, the extension you linked to seems to use a debug adapter (see debug.ts). This implies that the language server also implements debugging via the Debug Adapter Protocol (DAP), which means that you might be able to use dap-mode to connect to it and debug scripts.
