CAN Bus with MicroPython
https://awesome-micropython.com lists a couple of MCP2515 drivers. I wrote my own but it's embedded in another library and uses asyncio so it wouldn't help you much. Or you could port one of the many Arduino drivers. It's really just reading and writing chip registers over SPI.
- MicroPython officially becomes part of the Arduino ecosystem

Can someone explain this micropython code to me? I don't understand object-oriented programming.
I see that this library is listed on the MicroPython Awesome List. There are other MPU6050 libs listed there; I'd consider one of the others. I'll try and find time to raise a pull request to this library to tidy it up a little.

MicroPython: EuroPython 2022, Arduino, PyScript, and more! 🎁
Arduino currently offer MicroPython firmwares for their Nano 33 BLE and BLE Sense, the Nano RP2040 Connect, and Portenta H7 board - so it is important to note that you're not about to be running MicroPython on an Arduino Uno - but given the range of available libraries for the language and the relative ease of learning, it is exciting to see even further adoption.

Can MicroPython be used in production?
Do give it another try if you get a chance; I'd be genuinely interested in hearing about your experience. Be sure to check out the awesome list and micropython-lib if you're looking to fill gaps. There are still many holes but they're rapidly being filled in.

Getting past the basics: Libraries, connecting devices, etc
The problem is, everything I can find on using MicroPython on esp32 goes about that far... and stops. I have a lot of questions as an advanced Arduino user, like how to use libraries, especially for accessing devices. In my particular case, I want to hook up an ILI9488 TFT display, temperature/humidity sensor etc, but I can't find any references to that. I found https://awesome-micropython.com/ but even that has a list of random libraries and no explanation of how to install/use/manage libraries. http://docs.micropython.org/en/latest/library/index.html also only talks about the libraries that come with MicroPython.

What language should I teach my little sister
I recommend the Mu code editor because it's simple but has better UI than IDLE. But if they aren't going to be intimidated by its complexity, VS Code is good too. It sounds silly, but having a cool hacker-y looking IDE with colorful syntax highlighting does motivate people to code.

Thonny – Python IDE for new to programming
Great for my kids.
Another option would be Mu: https://codewith.mu/

ModGuide ModTalk for Saturday, April 30 - Useful Scripts, Bots, Add-Ons
The scripts are written in Python and PRAW. Bucky runs them on a raspberry pi so they don't have to worry about hosting or keeping a computer running all the time. They used r/learnpython, https://codewith.mu and Idle that comes with the Python software to learn. And then https://www.sublimetext.com/

Bringing the bling 🌟 with MicroPython 🐍
As an aside here, I'm using the Thonny editor to do the editing, but you could use VS Code, mu, or an alternative of your choice. Thonny lets me access the REPL easily, but I could do the same using one of several terminal tools.
