Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Yeah, a lot more businesses have gotten greedy and much more sanitised.
For subscriptions, which constantly break anyway, use the "YouTube subscriptions playlist" spreadsheet macro. It still occasionally breaks, but rarer than YouTube's subscriptions and at least you get notified with a precise error message. I'm also planning to write a script that periodically checks the output playlist of that and then downloads the new videos. But all of that once I have some more spare time, so probably not this year.

this is one feature i wish more 3rd party clients had, instead of just sorting channels into categories, only do new videos in playlists which is easier to manage.
- 3 accounts so far have been deleted for Spams, scams or commercially deceptive content.

Vanced Has Been Discontinued
At least for videos I use google spread sheet script to manage a bunch subscriptions into different private playlists accessible via sharelinks in Newpipe with psonsorblock. Allows me to keep things in sync with youtube account on other devices.

Youtube Ads showing every 5 seconds, please help me!
I would recommend SmartTube instead of the official YouTube app, you aren't going to see any ads.
