Does anyone else have a problem with Captcha when trying to open archived links posted here that are not archived in archive.org? I am unable to open these links as Captcha keeps bringing up photo after photo to verify despite having run antivirus and malware scans on Mac. No problem on Mobile.
I've looked into this a while back and it's either, you're using a VPN (for some archived sites) or it's the fact that some countries have blocked some of archive.ph branches eg archive.is etc. When you choose an archive website, it pings you around the different ones eg ph to is etc. so it depends.
I've read that archive.is doesn't like that Cloudflare won't share the country information of the user -( probably because archive.is is blocking service in Finland?).

Show HN: How to simply avoid paywalls with Google Translate(archive alternative)
Paywalls are annoying in daily browsing (more in the weekends and mornings!).
https://archive.is/ is great but one thing I noticed is that not play nicely with content extraction services such as https://getpocket.com/ and I think it is more about Pocket recognizing the Archive Today service than other thing.
Google Translate is an alternative that currently works with content readers. Basically the hack is to just not use the translation at all putting the same language in the language origin and destination.

Show HN: Ladder, open source alternative to 12ft.io and 1ft.io
Does not work so well anymore. Better use a bookmarklet

Not sure what happened here but the end of that is chopped off. Trying to fix it:
javascript:location.href='https://archive.is/?run=1&url=%27+encodeURIComponent(document.location.href)+%27'
-
Wait, What's a Bookmarklet?
Bypass paywall
javascript:location.href='https://archive.is/?run=1&url=%27+encodeURIComponent(document.location.href)
-
Ask HN: Why paywalled content is not banned yet?
Because you can use Archive.is[0] to post a comment with the un-paywalled article, which is always done for stories that hit the front-page. There are many publishers now that paywall their content, and typically you want the original source as the main submission as opposed to someone's relay of it.
[0]: https://archive.is/
Paywalled content is annoying. But it can be bypassed most of the time by cut'n'pasting the URL into the search fields of either
https://archive.is/

I Need an Ad Blocker Blocker BLOCKER
archive.is is even better from my experience, has some sites that 12ft excludes

It looks like you can use ChatGPT to bypass paywalls
for those who don't know you can use Webpage archive

I created a Spotify Downloader for the command line

Spotify broke and now I can now use a FOSS music player
spotDL will download spotify playlists, artists, or albums that you specify and correctly populate all the necessary metadata, including album art. It's extremely easy to use
- So I have a Spotify playlist that’s around 1k songs long. Is there anyways I can bulk download them as mp4s? I have the song list saved to a spreadsheet
-
posts that remind me of r/popheadscirclejerk
It's not a perfect solution, but SpotDL claims to find Spotify songs on YouTube and then download them from there. Otherwise, you could just do the work manually of finding your songs on Youtube/other websites and sticking them in yt-dlp.
