How to host a docker based proxy for selected containers
Basically, I would like that few of my containers to use a proxy whenever they need to access the external world (e.g. Sonarr and its friends). At the moment, for Deluge I am using binhex docker image, an all in one solution for torrent, vpn and so on. Just to add an extra security layer, I would like to obfuscate from my ISP all the calls that the *Arr friends are doing to the usual search engines.

How should I construct this Docker Compose network?
Are you wanting to use your VPN for anything other than your torrent traffic? If not, an easier method might just be to grab an container that has VPN+torrent client in one. Like this: https://github.com/binhex/arch-delugevpn
- I ditched those two and never looked back since

Synology Torrent Docker speeds (binhex/arch-rtorrentvpn wins for me)
I've tried the below, but they all seem to max out the download at 1MBps - binhex/arch-deulgevpn [https://github.com/binhex/arch-delugevpn] - dyonr/qbittorrentvpn [https://hub.docker.com/r/dyonr/qbittorrentvpn/] - markusmcnugen/qbittorrentvpn [https://hub.docker.com/r/markusmcnugen/qbittorrentvpn/]

Using DelugeVPN and Deluge in Docker, IP still isn't being hidden
Have you looked at the discussed issues? Maybe ask there.
I am using PIA as my VPN, and I followed this guide here so I can mask my IP. Since Deluge is using port 8112, I removed that from the script. My container does start up without errors, but when I run a curl for my IP, it shows as my IP which I don't want. I'm having trouble figuring out where I've gone wrong so that my VPN is working properly while using Deluge, and my internet search just keep bringing me to the same guide I followed.

Transmission (and Other) Notifications
I would try the absolute path of the script and see if that does it for you. I'm running transmission on docker using haugene/docker-transmission-openvpn and that's the absolute path within the container, but YMMV if you're running the program somewhere/somehow else.

I'm an idiot and need some experienced eyes to debug VPN and Gluetun crashing
I haven’t used GlueTUN so can’t help unfortunately but I do use this one - https://github.com/haugene/docker-transmission-openvpn and it seems easier and safer (the container stops if the VPN is down)

Transmission 4.0.0 has been released with over a years worth of new features and fixes!
Both of the main docker images I know of are managed by 3rd parties so they don't get updated instantly. Looks like haugene/transmission-openvpn added 4.0.0 to their beta branch a few hours ago

Advice on using VPNs with containers
Some vpns are built into docker containers, such as https://github.com/haugene/docker-transmission-openvpn

I've just just joined the Linux (Unbuntu 2204)and NAS ranks and have questions

My first homelab in over a decade. 15yr and 12yr kids will be doing it with me this time. Any suggestion on what we should start with to run? We will have a K8s cluster.
It starts with use a vpn to download, the service is less than $2 per month. And if you want to get fancy, this git is sweet https://github.com/haugene/docker-transmission-openvpn

More than a decade of doing this and I finally get a letter...
If you don't have a local server in your home you can leave connected to VPN 24/7 I'd recommend doing it all through a docker container on your computer. That'll let you keep it on VPN without needing to put everything else on VPN. You could even set up two docker containers. One for the VPN and one for the torrent client, then when you turn on VPN for your regular stuff on the machine you can tunnel through that VPN without needing two take up two device slots. Here's just one option for it. But there are tons of options pre built. https://github.com/haugene/docker-transmission-openvpn Alternatively you could always set up your own if you have the know how.
