A Controller to Mouse Software (I used reWasd, a free alternative is AntiMicroX)
-
[Recommendation] Not necessary, but cool software to tweak your devices (webcam, keyboard etc.)
- AntiMicroX: Map keyboard buttons & mouse controls to a gamepad (with Wayland support)
- Is there a way to scroll using a game controller on Wayland? Or map the controller to other mouse buttons?

Help with Xbox Elite 2 back paddles wireless
This seems to be related to Linux not recognizing the buttons, as if you look at the controller in input devices it only list buttons up to 11. According to this page (https://github.com/AntiMicroX/antimicrox/issues/685) the back paddles should map to buttons 11-14. Windows user have a similar issue with the latest controller firmware (mine has already been rolled back) where windows stopped recognizing the buttons. It seems Linux did not recognize the button presses till kernel 6.1 (https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linux-6.1-XPad).

Arcade buttons + controllwr
You might be able to do this with meleu's Joystick Selection script, available either standalone or as part of RetroPie-Extra. I would try, set the gamepads to always use players 1 and 2, then let the arcade controls remain default/unset. So when the gamepads are connected they'll take priority, and then when they aren't, I think the arcade controls should still work in place.

Adding support for additional controllers to cabinet (RPi3)
Have you tried this ? :https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection
- Issues connecting the 8Bitdo Zero 2 to the Pi4 with most up-to-date RetroPie image - anyone have any tips? It's registered, but not connecting
- Is there a way to configure the order or players (player 1, player 2, player 3) in RetroPie?

2 player, Desktop Shortcut & Controller as Input
I used https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection as well hoping it would let me assign my keyboard as player2 but it didn't. I did use this to put the gamepad as player 1, though I think in my situation this wasn't needed as it was already mapped to 1. But it seems like a great tool so I left it for when I want to add for gamepads. My 8bit Pro 2 is on its way!

To get all these controllers to to play nice with each other on one pc took 5 seperate retroarch installs running independent from one another, usb hub with switches, wii u adapter, and a fancy frontend to tie all this mess together, haha. But without RetroArch...this would not be possible at all
Found the script: https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection But I looked at it and don't think you can make any sort of use of it. It is designed for RetroPie only (which means Linux) and even includes some "C" code.

Controllers are often mixed up, any tips?
That appears to be broken at this point in time: https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection/issues/42
You can try this which permanently sets the player number to a controller even if it's not plugged in. I really wish it was included with retropie but for whatever reason it's not. https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection
