Hi everyone! I need some help with my phone. About a year ago, I flashed it to the LineageOS 19 and chose English language (and maybe USA or UK as the location). However, now I’ve found that I’m unable to record my calls and I can’t change my location. According to this document I found, call recording should be possible in my country. Does anyone know how I can fix this issue? Thanks in advance! And a big thank you to the LineageOS developers for creating such an excellent firmware!

In that case, it's quite possible that your country isn't listed here, which is the list of "where is call recording allowed and where is it not?", or it's simply not enabled for your device (example change).

So if you want to make a custom build, fork https://github.com/LineageOS/android_packages_apps_Dialer/blob/lineage-19.1/java/com/android/dialer/callrecord/res/xml/call_record_states.xml and modify it by basically changing false to true next to your country, then fork the manifest and replace the dialer repo with your fork. And then just build like normal, just remember to use your manifest.

For LineageOS 18.1 it says in https://github.com/LineageOS/android_packages_apps_Dialer/blob/lineage-18.1/java/com/android/dialer/callrecord/res/xml/call_record_states.xml it says:

The default dialer has a call recording functionality which is enabled based on your country. (I think other methods for call recording is killed by google.)

Afaik it auto detects the country by the inserted SIM card. Recording will only be enabled if it's legal in the detected country based on this list

I would be wary of using their calendar app. It has had a long-standing bug in basic timezone / DST handling:

Most custom ROMs don't seem to use the AOSP dialer anyway. I've mostly seen forks with some nice features Google's dialer still lacks (called recording, for one).

AOSP hasn't been a useful Android distribution for years. Luckily, you can make it useful through third party apps like the Simple apps: https://www.simplemobiletools.com/
