alt-tab-macos VS barrier

I use AltTab [0] for this. I find using a mac without it horrendous.

I love cmd+tab on a mac to switch between applications, but I was missing a feature to switch between windows of the same application. Alt+tab solves that in the same manner Windows does.

I know this isn’t the point of your post, but in case it helps your experience in MacOS:

2. The third party app “alt-tab” provides an alt tab experience that is much better than the native one, and is likely more similar to the behavior you expect from Linux. See: https://alt-tab-macos.netlify.app

I also personally like to use Rectangle for window positioning using keyboard shortcuts, tried the various auto tiling solutions like yabai and amethyst in the past but I think the flexibility of Rectangle is worth having to remember and use a few keyboard shortcuts.

I think it’s unfortunate that so many third party apps are required, but with a bit of babysitting MacOS can be pretty decent to work with.

There's likely a delay so that you can use Alt-Tab to quickly go back to your last window without the pop-up showing. I use AltTab on macOS like this, which has a configurable delay.

I've been using AltTab (https://alt-tab-macos.netlify.app/) , which has been a really nice experience.

On mac, we have many options respectively for these two steps. For the first one, you can use Alt-Tab, or you may use another one written by me called Oliver (It still has some bugs, but I like it). The main difference is that Oliver can choose multiple windows a time, which is to some extent similar to your description, while Alt-Tab can do only one but goes much faster and natively.

I use it between a Windows PC & a Macbookpro (Linux version available but I don't have Linux)

Barrier is a Cross-Plattform, open source Synergy fork that works quite well without any additional HW too [0]

libei looks useful. But IDK why libei is necessary to run Barrier with Wayland?

For client systems, couldn't there just be a virtual /dev/inputXYZ that Barrier forwards events through

And for host systems, it looks like xev only logs input events when the window is focused.

Is xeyes still broken on Wayland, and how to fix it so that it would work with Barrier?

With Barrier, when the mouse cursor reaches a screen boundary, the keyboard and mouse input are then passed to a different X session on another box until the cursor again crosses a screen boundary rule.
