  • Tried everything...NDI source problems
    1 project | | 28 Nov 2021
I haven't used OBS for awhile, but I had to install this plugin when I used it last, as well as the NDI runtime, which can be found in the instructions section of the site I linked.

Larix Broadcaster or NDI HX Camera if you're on the local network, NDI will be a little easier to use. For this method you'll also need the OBS NDI plugin Streamlabs OBS supports NDI source on Windows, but I don't know about's strongly recommended to abandon SLOBS in favor of regular OBS Studio. If you're mobile and not on the local wifi/network, Larix is what you want (although Larix can be used locally as well) using SRT/HEVC
  • Dual PC obs streaming help
    1 project | | 19 Sep 2021
What you lose in a dual PC setup is that you just have to have your preplanned mental map of where all your pieces are going - your microphone, your computers themselves, the monitor setup, audio to monitor your alerts, and any external control surfaces you have for both computers. Because the second OBS is just receiving your capture card - effectively just display capture - you lose the control that per-app game capture gives you and the granular audio control you could have with App Based Audio Capture or Virtual Audio Cables. You can circumvent this by skipping a capture card entirely and sending a precise OBS feed of just your game over OBS-NDI, but that can undo some of the benefit because the gaming PC still has to composite a simple scene.
  • How do I hook up one laptop to the other and stream together with them?

With a LAN cable and use
  • NDI not working. I set output on one pc and on the second pc I add ndi source, but nothing shows up. No screen capture, no audio, no picture. Nothing, just a red resizing dot on the top left but that does't help either.

In my opinion, NDI is not a viable option in OBS. Something is wrong between OBS and the NDI plugin that causes numerous problems. Once you get through the configuration issues, there are intermittent video issues and if you get those resolved you should run into the audio issues. I believe this is why there is a full rewrite of the obs-ndi plugin going on:
  • View OBS output on Ipad via wifi (no internet) NDI?
    1 project | | 18 Aug 2021
Yes, it's an extra plugin available for all platforms:
  • Help with Windowed Preview Not Playing Sound
    1 project | | 8 Jun 2021
The first is what I use: download NDI Tools and use NDI Studio Monitor with the OBS-NDI plugin to send your OBS output - audio and video - to the Studio Monitor app. With it installed in OBS, that's Tools -> NDI.Plugin.Menu.OutputSettings and tick the box next to the first output, 'main', then load it up in the Monitor app. It's been a while since I set it up and it was a bit finnicky but I did use it recently to put OBS output to a window and stream that to discord. However, do note that installing the OBS-NDI plugin leads to a known bug that stops OBS minimising to System Tray. It is unlikely to be fixed. If for whatever reason your other, 'normal' use of OBS has you rely on minimising to system tray and you can't adjust, I'd float the idea of installing a second, portable instance of OBS for when you want to use NDI activity.

NDI capture - PC to PC very low impact on your performance
  • Why is screen sharing on iPadOS limited to 480p on non-Nitro accounts?
    1 project | | 1 Apr 2021
My workaround so far is to stream the screen to PC and then restream it via Discord PC app. I'm using obs-ndi + NDI capture, though I heard that Screen Mirroring+ also works fine. This setup works fine (stream resolution is near 720p), but setting it up every time is pretty annoying.
  • Alternative to NDI: Use your phone instead!
    1 project | | 17 Mar 2021
I have yet to try NDI, but there seem to be linux packages in a project which seems to be GPL. Unless it requires a proprietary library from the NDI SDK, in which case I'm even doubt that the GPL is a compatible license.
