Give me a starting nudge: microscopy image processing in python
For domain-specific stuff like data formats, look for bindings to libraries used in that domain, which may not be native to Python. From a quick Google, this project may be useful: https://github.com/CellProfiler/python-bioformats/ Unlike say numpy, it may be a road less traveled.
What are some alternatives?
spack - A flexible package manager that supports multiple versions, configurations, platforms, and compilers.
ITK - Insight Toolkit (ITK) -- Official Repository. ITK builds on a proven, spatially-oriented architecture for processing, segmentation, and registration of scientific images in two, three, or more dimensions.
PyCUDA - CUDA integration for Python, plus shiny features
pyCellID - Functions to analyze Cell-ID single-cell cytometry data using python language.
Cellular-Automatons - This repository focuses on studying and showcasing interesting patterns emerging from simple rules random motion algorithms. It contains a Conway's Game of life made in Python and a second algorithm for an animation of random walk algorithms on a 2D plane.
imageio - Python library for reading and writing image data
Herbie - Download numerical weather prediction datasets (HRRR, RAP, GFS, IFS, etc.) from NOMADS, NODD partners (Amazon, Google, Microsoft), ECMWF open data, and the University of Utah Pando Archive System.
