What is the point of a public key fingerprint?
I like that https://github.com/FiloSottile/age has small public keys.

Oh nevermind, age doesn't do any of that. Indeed, it doesn't even do email https://github.com/FiloSottile/age/issues/93

Would you trust a repository made like this to save your secrets?
Why keep something secret on a public repo? Is that not an oxymoron?
Also, Iām terms of encryption something like age[0] makes it much easier to not shoot yourself in the foot.

Looking For Encryption App
Why RSA specifically? For backups, I recommend Tarsnap. But if you really don't want to pay for encrypted cloud hosting, then check out age encryption.

OpenSSL and a rookie (me)
I wouldn't use OpenSSL personally. If you just need simple but secure symmetric encryption, checkout the scrypt(1) encryption utility from Tarsnap. If you need support for public keys, check out age(1).

In 2024, please switch to Firefox
For extensions, I recommend people follow the recommendations[1] in the arkenfox repo and either harden their firefox or use librewolf. Umatrix is unmaintained since 2019.

Google Chrome just rolled out a new way to track you and serve ads
> Firefox remains a stable option to come back to everytime
Don't get me wrong, I've been using Firefox for the last decade and I don't intend on using anything else for the foreseeable future, but Mozilla has no idea what they're doing with Firefox nowadays. Firefox View is the most useless thing I've ever seen, that expiring "independent voices" theme picker was some weird hippie stunt[1], the latest UI redesign which split the tab from the window looks hideous, and it's not like Firefox doesn't have things you can tweak for a more private experience[2]. I miss Firefox Test Pilot where they tried out different new features, I found a lot of them to be very useful but sadly lots of them didn't make it.

Noob Firefox Nightly q...
But you can apply either Arkenfox's user.js or Betterfox's anyways, kinda defeats the purpose of using a test version but ok I guess
- Suggestions on hardening Firefox?

Must-Have / useful apps for windows
I would replace bloated Opera Gx with Firefox + hardened user.js Spotify can be anoying if you are using free option, you can use BlockTheSpot that can unlock pretty much every premium features. If it's not a big deal - just buy premium, I can't afford Spotify right now.

What browser do you use?

Are you supposed to use Proton Tor server with Onion Browser?
It is not recommended to use Tor Browser through a VPN. If you want to reduce fingerprinting / privacy while using a VPN, use Mullvad Browser, a hardened Firefox (e. g. Arkenfox or Librewolf. On mobile you could use Firefox Focus or even better: Mull (Privacy hardened Firefox for Android).
