You can actually get desktop E2E on Windows through Unigram. However, then the E2E gets locked to that PC and can only live on that machine for its lifespan.

It's third-party UWP app, but it's open-source and listed on official Telegram website, so it's safe.

In addition, there’s a libpurple plugin should one feel want to use Telegram with Pidgin, as well as several other clients including one that’s TUI based.
The choice of client is a massive boon. It’s unfortunate that one can’t use a alternative Signal clients, because they’d likely solve many of the gripes people have with Signal.

Backup to PDF
All I know of is signal back ( https://github.com/xeals/signal-back ) but I haven't been able to install and use this yet due to my complete lack of programming knowledge. Even the Github instructions don't make sense to me...

Decrypt backup for court case
If your messages are Signal-encrypted, you can use the software on https://github.com/xeals/signal-back to export your encrypted messages as SMS, which you can then get as a PDF more easily.

I just want to read a .backup (created on Android) of my signal messages and found a tool that purports to do that. If I use it on my computer, am I rendering the content vulnerable to remote access?
