UABEA VS UABE

Asset Studio for browsing and previewing files, Avalonia for replacing/editing bundles. Of course, I've never actually modded RF5; all I've managed to get working so far for RF3s is portrait and model texture editing, and face textures are so tightly cropped that replacing them might be a pain. As for dialogue, the extracted .txt comes out garbled, and I tried it with Grimoire just for fun but that doesn't seem to do anything.

It’s kind of a crazy process, but basically I used UABEA. https://github.com/nesrak1/UABEA.

If you want to use an entirely custom model, you'll need to download Unity 2019.3.14f1, import the model into a new project and add it to a scene, then build the project and extract the model raw using UABEAvalonia (the standard version of UABE isn't compatible with post-2019 Unity archives, unfortunately). You can then use UABEAvalonia to replace the original model (which will probably be in the PillarsOfEternity2_Data/assetbundles/items.unity3d archive) with the new raw.

you have to use https://github.com/nesrak1/UABEA and then go through the files by using Asset Studio, and try to find the asset you want to change.

If you're lucky, the developers will have used a standard format to store their assets and you can just use an existing asset extractor to do the dirty work for you: Unreal, Unity, and Flash (.swf) are some of the most popular ones.

Modding UAD is a bit of a hassle. You need an Asset Bundle Extractor to open the resource.assets file. This is the one I use/ was shown Then export specific files to .txt files and edit them with a program like Notepad ++.

The fonts are stored in Unity AssetBundles, which are a huge pain to edit, but I think they should support non-standard letters (you can always try putting some in a line you know vs. a line containing only standard ones, and see if anything breaks). Likewise, some of the UI text (for example, loading screen tips, and the [E] Use etc. keybinds) is stored in an additional English or Russian localization file bundled inside Pathologic_Data\resources.assets. You'll have to use a tool like UABE to find and export either "english.txt" or "russian.txt" from this asset bundle, edit that text file, and then use UABE again to replace the file within that bundle.
