TABSAT VS Modded-Mayors

I've encountered it myself for my own public FOSS programs, even the same Wacatac trojan claimed for a .Net app rather than Python. That time the older version of the public updates-checking library was depreciated into flagging as likely suspect, while the latest fixed it. Defender is dumb in this regard.

I suppose you could try TABSAT https://github.com/DaneelTrevize/TABSAT. I haven’t tried it myself, but supposedly it lets you modify stuff like the number of mutants and giants so you could get rid of them.

If you want to play classic no-Mutants 800%, you can edit a save to remove them via 0% population count scaling, or turn them all into Giants, or move the nearby ones to distant ones.

Do you have any way to access the save file path/contents? A quick googling indicates GFN could be syncing with your Steam Cloud, so your laptop could run a local copy of Steam TAB enough to retrieve the saves when loading the main menu, and then you could use TABSAT to regenerate the check file.

I made TABSAT so that players can extract and modify save files, the manual modification feature should help in this regard.

TABSAT automates making copies of your saves and easily restoring them. Just have it enabled and then either depend on the game's schedule of autosaving or exit and resume a game to force a save to be generated, to be copied in the background.

This is just the Mayors mechanic. Which we can already mod to do far more interesting things than default.

There's no need to trust a wiki when you can extract the data tables or see the unmodified source ones here.

What did they make that is actually new, and not just the features that players exposed over 3 years ago?

TABSAT was started while the anti-mods TAB devs were still active, and its approach is to manipulate the save files as & when they are generated by the game, to make it harder for the devs to stop such works. More recently, there have been FOSS efforts to read and manipulate game state while playing, to add a few new keybindings and features without involving save files, or global data file changes as ModdedMayors does.

The only other map theme with non-default values is the Desert one. Unmodified game data exported here.

If you want to alter the rules/data the game uses, you can using this collection of info. No one much seems to care to maintain any sensible rebalanced version, rather they have used the official editor to produce one-off maps with rules (and lore), and then a series of such maps to resemble a campaign.

Modded Mayors. I didn't create the balance, just got it working again, and make available the info and tools needed for others to create their own rebalances.

FWIW, TABSAT allows you to tweak several starting conditions, and swap map themes post-generation. And ModdedMayors currently hosts the latest password needed to extract and repack the rules data file for the game.

You could try modding the data tables, I have not generated the latest Modded Mayors file but did make public the password needed to do so, and this lets you see the other Entity and Command (Techs) tables that the game uses. I don't know what's hardcoded & assumed about them, but you could try removing such entries and seeing if Survival still functions.
