Does anyone know if there's a theme close to this shade/simplicity?
If so, then you could probably disable global-font-lock-mode and then just set the foreground and background colors for the default font face. To figure out the specific colors used in the screenshot you shared you can probably find a utility for your OS that will allow you to do that. ELI5: Why do computers get so enragingly slow after just a few years?
Use a tool like smFanControl, Macs Fan Control, or Stats to manually set your fan speed to 100%. This is noisy and reduces the lifetime of the part, but it means you can force your device to cool down, even when the OS doesn't want to.
