Is there anyway to pass the unifi camera stream through ai object detector?
I run my various camera streams through SynoAI ( https://github.com/djdd87/SynoAI ), which is built on Surveillance Station, on my Synology NAS.
- Advanced video anlytics (especially people counting) without Deep Learning NVR
- For those of you that use Surveillance Station without access to the deep learning features, how do you avoid motion detection alerts when cameras switch from regular to infrared or vice-versa?
- Is there any way to get AI motion detection in Surveillance Station without the $3k DVA3221?

Tell HN: Best Use for old iPads (that I found)
I've tried using LiveReporter[1] with an old iPad to send a RTSP stream to Frigate[2] running in a Proxmox virtual machine because I wanted to find out who was stealing plums from my trees. However, I never caught the plum-stealing-person, because LiveReporter crashed every few hours on my ancient iPad.
Does anyone know of an app that reliably streams the camera of old iPads and iPhones to your local network that is not tied to any cloud service or subscription that collects unnecessary user data?

Self Hosted CCTV/Home Security
I've been using Frigate which is open source, supports the usual motion detection, zones and does impressive object detection. Practically supports any video camera that has an accessible live stream, although it can sometimes take a bit of fiddling to configure. Can also be integrated with home assistant if you're in to that.

RE: UniFi, they need to each be flipped into "Standalone" mode and then you just follow the instructions over here:

I mostly ended up and recommend Axis for IP surveillance, it has nice MQTT integrations and recessed mount options (https://www.axis.com/products/axis-t94s01l-recessed-mount) but almost anything which can do RTSP will work with either a COTS NVR, or something like Frigate (https://frigate.video).
Another thing to read up on and use when shopping for IP surveillance is ONVIF and the various profiles offered!

Check out Ubiquiti. Their cameras support RTSP, which you can feed into something like Frigate.
