Patrick Sundt, who was responsible for managing the consumer part of WMR, was among those who were laid off by MS recently. It's safe to say WMR support by Microsoft is dead (if excluding the SteamVR layer updates)

OpenXR ... but not in Quoted-Printable RFC Absurdity?

Stereoscopic Rendering for VR from Scratch?
Take a look at Microsoft's OpenXR demo, it's not too bad. The benefit of OpenXR is that it will work with any headset and you're not tied to Facebook's API.
