Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

As far as I know there's no in app updater. So yes you can download the files from the website and just copy over the downloaded files to your installation directory. Another option that I use is this app called Stellar https://github.com/StellarUpdater/Stellar. Lets you choose to update RA, RA + cores, or just redownload everything plus a couple other options
Has anyone done a workaround for updating cores yet?

It’s kind of magic to get something working. I then take it to either a native app or something like react native, xamarin, flutter or ionic depending on the project. I really personally prefer just building iOS apps in swift because it’s pretty magic to go from Figma to a swift app (I learned at https://designcode.io/).
