Videos of Godotcon 2023
I gave a lightning talk about Godot as a wallpaper engine replacement via ScreenPlay[1]. I hacked this together the week before the convention and I hope to release it by the end of the month.

Ask HN: I just want to have fun programming again
Qt/QML? I have been doing cross-platform development with Qt for a few years now [1]. It does have a learning curve, but I do like the split of C++ logic and Qml for the UI. I can recommend the qml book [2].

[Weekly] What is everybody working on? Share your progress, discoveries, tips and tricks!
There is Slate the pixel editor written in Qt/QML. Alternatively, ScreenPlay (Open Source Live Wallpaper) always welcomes contributors :P https://screen-play.app/
That's sounds cool! Are you planning to open source it? I could use something like this in ScreenPlay!

Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (November 2022)

Koi Kimono - Double Exposure Effect
This would be a cool ScreenPlay desktop live wallpaper ;)

Ask HN: Why are there so many companies trying to reinvent the terminal (badly)?
Not with Qt6/CMake/QML. For example, I've been developing a cross-plattform live wallpaper app for the last 5 years alone: https://screen-play.app/

Tags no longer register and i've finally had it with galaxy 2.0. Any recommended alternatives?
Heroic Games Launcher: Support is limited to Epic, GOG and Amazon but the advantage is that it can manage their games itself without the need of their own launchers. Doesn't have support for tags currently.

Making the switch - what are the gaps?
For "normal" games you could look yourself using ProtonDB regarding every game released on Steam and AreWeAntiCheatYet for most multiplayer games. If a game isn't available on Steam you have three possibilities. First if it's available on GOG, Epic Games or Amazon Gaming, you could use the Heroic Games Launcher. Second you could try to run the launchers through Steam itself using once again Proton. Third you could try installing it with a script or tutorial in Lutris or Bottles.

I just bought a steam deck for my 15yo’s bday present - now what?
Maybe also look into HeroicGamesLauncher and how to install it, Steam isn't the only platform for gaming and HeroicGamesLauncher help with the following platform: GoG (Good Old Games) and EGS (Epic Game Store).
- According to a survey, only 36% of PC gamers buy games at full price.
