Also, if you want window snapping similar to Windows, check out Rectangle. There's a bunch of mac utilities out there and I've been using Macs since I was like 4 years old in 2003 and used these random utilties for almost 20 years now so there's probably a couple crucial ones I'm forgetting.
Is there a way to turn this off? or move it? or something. every time I go to switch a tab it pops up and moves my whole screen and it’s infuriating
1 project | reddit.com/r/macbook | 22 Nov 2021
If you install Rectangle, you can snap windows to fill the screen without maximising them.

Actually, try Rectangle it's free unlike Magnet. I am not paying for basic window manger that should come built in the OS!11 projects | reddit.com/r/mac | 21 Nov 2021
By the way, to get snapping, I recommend everyone try Rectangle (Free, Open Source).

Yes, indeed it is. I had the 13" MacBook Pro M1 and used VSCode with a nice Apache/PHP/MySQL install using Homebrew ( https://brew.sh ). I used DBeaver Community for database management.

Homebrew member here. Although we don't actively support macOS versions older than what Apple issues security updates for, we do try to at least keep brew itself working on 10.10 and later (I myself run 10.12 at home). OS X 10.9 was the first to ship with built-in support for TLS 1.2 (which has become a de facto minimum requirement to even browse the web these days), so there's bound to be bugs. Also, every macOS version older than 10.15.5 was hit with this issue that took a lot of work to route around. Sorry there isn't an easier answer than "try MacPorts" or "use a newer machine to pre-download everything beforehand".
Any recommended binary package managers?

I have little experience personally to recommend it, but Homebrew (https://brew.sh/) should work, and seems to be just what you are looking for.
