Getting a mac soon, what are some of the most useful apps for work?
I'd still recommend finding replacements parts your workflow if you were accustomed to them on windows. apps like rectangle give you snap windows which is probably the biggest pain point coming from windows.
Rectangle gives you window snapping superpowers.

[auto-dark-emacs] Now working with Linux using D-Bus
But it is not maintained anymore, so I set https://github.com/rxhanson/Rectangle to behave like Spectacle default.

You're using function keys wrong
I use Rectangle too, but it's pretty annoying how many apps Rectangle has issues with. Apparently it's a macOS thing. So, Steam doesn't work at all. Facetime doesn't support switching between screens. etc. Another example with Messages: https://github.com/rxhanson/Rectangle/issues/842

I installed iTerm2 and zsh shell with Prezto and I love my command line on OSX I use homebrew to install any tools that are missing and use pyenv to manage my python version (which I also do on Linux) that and the clang/gcc from the OSX command line tools and I pretty much have a full Un*x shell for anything I need to do

homebrew is the most popular package manager on MacOS. It's painfully slow compared to linux package managers but it works. Macports is an alternative and Nix works on MacOS as well. They can be used to download both terminal and GUI applications.

Cross-platform way to install software my dotfiles depend on?
Homebrew was originally just for macOS, but they introduced Linux support a few years ago. Theyâve done a lot of work to improve it since then. Iâve been using it for a few years across my macOS and WSL install, and it works great!
