I’m begging you.
Step 4: Real Solar System. This is the bread and butter of KSP RSSRO. Download the newest release here: https://github.com/KSP-RO/RealSolarSystem/releases/tag/v18.1.4. Once you have done this, download the latest RSS textures (right here https://github.com/KSP-RO/RSS-Textures/releases/tag/v18.3) and pick one of the options. What you pick is dependent on your ram. If you have 16 gb or more and a powerful processor, the 16384 (16k) should be fine. If you have 8, I would suggest the 2048. If you have 16 gb but a lower end processor, I'd get the 8k or 4k textures respectively. I like 8k, it works well for my i5 6600k. Move the folder included (RSS-Textures) to the GameData folder. After that, you should be good.

After 2 days of trying I finally got 3000km down range! any advice on what I would have done differently? I did not let myself watch any videos on how to build the rocket. I only googled what I couldn't figure out myself, so I'm sure I did it in the most inefficient way possible lmao

My engine keeps turning off way before my rated burn time. Why is that? I just started so i have no idea what I’m doing and im using the A-4 Engine.
give this a read, and maybe pop into the discord. make sure to include screenshots when in the discord so you can be helped quicker. not the best at giving advice, especially with something like this (I prefer to hand fly)

Someone please tell me that RO engine failures get better as you go down the rp-1 tech tree :,)
If you like Russian R7 derivatives, there are some configs of the RD-107/108 with ridiculously high reliability. https://github.com/KSP-RO/RealismOverhaul/blob/master/GameData/RealismOverhaul/Engine_Configs/RD108_RD118_Config.cfg e.g. there's one variant, RD-108-8D727 and the RD-107 equivalent, that in real life had 1400 successful flights and no failures, so it has lots of 9s in its reliability scores.
