Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

C++ Project Ideas?
And here there is a project of mine base on them (and not only): aromanro/RayTracer: A ray tracing program (github.com)

4 hours of my .obj parser so far ðŸ˜
I've got a basic obj parser in my ray tracing project: https://github.com/aromanro/RayTracer

How 3d models like sphere can be rendered?
And this one: https://github.com/aromanro/RayTracer is with ray tracing, not using opengl, but it illustrates spheres that are 'really' spheres, that is, not made out of polygons. In principle such thing could be done with opengl as well (or some variation of it).

I am looking for resources where I can learn the theoretic part of a raytracer, so I can implement it myself.
I started out with 'Ray Tracing in One Weekend' (actually it was in very few hours in a Saturday), then went further, first with the other two volumes then with some papers and other things on the net and in the end I've got this: https://github.com/aromanro/RayTracer

Writing a Raytracer — which book?
I started with number 2 (continuing with the other two in the series), then went further and ended up with this: https://github.com/aromanro/RayTracer

SQL Reserved Words – The Empirical List
My pet silliness in sql from a couple years ago: https://github.com/chunky/sqlraytracer
You remind me I need to finish my hunt the wumpus implementation. (sqlite has an easy way to get user input, mid query...)

Every time I see a discussion about raytracing, I feel compelled to link to my own, unreasonably silly, implementation: https://github.com/chunky/sqlraytracer

Writing a Raytracer — which book?
I implemented my raytracer by working through "Raytracing in One Weekend" and I would *highly* recommend it.

Ray Tracing for the TI-84 CE
This is awesome. A bit of self-promotion: I, too, wrote a deliberately obtuse raytracer: https://github.com/chunky/sqlraytracer

Question: What is the performance of a Postgres recursive query with a large depth on millions of rows? Should I use a graph database instead?
The only thing that's awkward about postgres is that it is documented as fully materialising a recursive CTE before handing you any rows. If you have some truly offensively large graph traversal [output, not input], it can take a while to create the temp table. My sql raytracer can take minutes per image because of the gargantuan temp storage thing.

Is it worth writing a software raytracer before going into hardware accelerated RTX?
[1] I used SQL: https://github.com/chunky/sqlraytracer [note that dielectrics still aren't working, don't judge me for bugs, yet!]
What are some alternatives?
EventMolecularDynamics - A program implementing event driven molecular dynamics for hard smooth spheres, using OpenGL for displaying
TI-84-CE-Raytracing - A ray tracing engine for the Ti84 CE written in C++ and ez80 assembly.
NGL - The NCCA Graphics Library
Schemaverse - The Schemaverse is a space-based strategy game implemented entirely within a PostgreSQL database. Compete against other players using raw SQL commands to command your fleet. Or, if your PL/pgSQL-foo is strong, wield it to write AI and have your fleet command itself!
HartreeFock - A program implementing the Hartree–Fock (also post-HF: MP2, CCSD(T), CIS and TDHF/RPA)/self-consistent field method (also DIIS) with Gaussian orbitals
cgltf - :diamond_shape_with_a_dot_inside: Single-file glTF 2.0 loader and writer written in C99
manta-ray - An open source physically based renderer.

any_hash.cr - Better JSON::Any for Crystal
brainfuck-game-engine - A brainfuck game engine -- because life wasn't hard enough before
nrg - A simple program implementing the numerical renormalization group
html_builder - DSL for creating HTML
