Why use NextDNS when you can use a lightweight, native solution[1]? Sorry if this sounds condescending but I need less services and not more.

uBlock Origin still works in Firefox. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin...

And you can, I believe, still just modify your hosts table to block out ads in Chrome. https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts

Or your router's DNS using something like NextDNS. https://nextdns.io/

Ads suck. Support content where you can, but even when you pay they still serve ads / tracking scripts. So fuck 'em. Block all the ads.

You could get a step closer to that and integrate it into your DNS: https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts

The upside is that it would go beyond your browser to anything on your machine that makes a DNS request.

    > Another great function (not for this plugin) should be the option to "bundle" all search results from the same domain. Stuff them under one collapsible entry.

That would be really cool. Just zip it up if you don't want to see that domain for that specific search.

Time for a reminder that pretty good ad-blocking can be done with no software at all, just a customised hosts file - https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts :-)

Well at least the techie crowd can still use /etc/hosts (or the equivs on Mac/Win) which, if frequently-enough (weekly, biweekly, even monthly is enough) updated with the https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts , seems to "block" ads sufficiently well (no in-page DOM node removals of course, just network-unreachable image/script/iframe/popup URLs).

While it is now unblocked, the Steven Black list has been blocking a lot of innocent CDNs.
