www.gov.uk is one site (although with multiple different applications responsible for different parts of it) ran by the Government Digital Service, part of the Cabinet Office.
Does anyone kind of miss simpler webpages?

I love the UK government website (www.gov.uk) for the same reason. It's simple, minimalistic, and gets the job done.

If you haven't before, take a look around www.gov.uk sometime. Think of something to to with government (say, applying for a driver's license) and try to find it.

I mean to be fair, the UK Government website itself is www.gov.uk. I.e. the domain is simply '.uk'.

A simple guide on words to avoid in UK government

>I think this ignores the reason jargon exists. To demonstrate that the speaker is part of the "in" crowd.
It's not ignoring it because it's a guideline for writing in plain language on "www.gov.uk" for visitors seeking information. There are no named-author byline on the various informational articles on https://www.gov.uk/ -- so there's no "in crowd" to demonstrate to anybody.
People want plain language instead of fancier words in laws, tax forms, legal contracts, etc.

Is it safe to publish my NixOS system config on GitHub?
2 projects | reddit.com/r/NixOS | 23 Sep 2022
I wondered about this when I first started using NixOS, but then I figured that if GOV.UK, my employer at the time, felt safe publishing their puppet config, then there's no reason I should be afraid to publish the configuration for my far-less-valuable systems.
