Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

What debugging/monitoring method do you use? Lately, I have been using the Saleae Logic Analyzer to monitor the signals exchanged among the boards of my embedded network. I find it really cool, but do you have any other recommendations? What do you use?
If you use ROS, you will have similar facilities with ROS bags and e.g. PlotJuggler. ROS bags are not as convenient to manipulate as MessagePack/JSON dictionaries, although they hold similar data, because the ecosystem is smaller (i.e. less people manipulating them and developing tools to manipulate them more efficiently).

- Any suggestions for a graphing software geared towards data/plot analysis?
- Easy framework for visualizing sensor values?

Does rqt_plot work in ROS2 Foxy?
I can also recommend using Plotjuggler instead: https://github.com/facontidavide/PlotJuggler

I created Polyture, a self-hosted, end-to-end, data science platform!
This is great!! Also see the open source plot juggler (not mine) https://www.plotjuggler.io/

Total noob with ROS, need to open a .bag file and extract info, how?
If you want to visualize data on the plot I would recommend using PlotJuggler. Great piece of visualization tool working with ROS. It is available as snap package, so it will be easy to set up. Here's the link with all the details: https://github.com/facontidavide/PlotJuggler

Remember how awesome splash screens used to be? Gimp 1.2 still stands out in my memory. Does anyone else have current or former favourites?
For work sometimes I will use a program called PlotJuggler, where there is a splash screen but it is just a couple seconds of displaying a random, plotting related meme.

Ask HN: Software for Time Series Data Manipulation
Based on your comment, I assume you mean a GUI program for interactive exploration and manipulation, rather than a library?
This was posted on HN a few months ago and came to mind: https://github.com/facontidavide/PlotJuggler
In a past job, we used the commercial app nCode Glyphworks for graphical / interactive signal processing from field tests with hundreds of sensors.

Contra Wirecutter on the IKEA air purifier
Really neat how easy IKEA products data can be gleaned, especially thanks to the online community.
I wanted to add a screen to the VINDRIKTNING[0] air quality sensor, and thanks to an existing project[1] I was able get it working[2].

Wemos s2 mini (esp32s2) not booting properly with extra load on vbus.
Hey everyone, I'm throwing together a pm25 sensor with an ikea dumb sensor, just like this.

Ask HN: Indoor air quality sensors and other IoT that's local-first and not DIY?
Its not no soldering but it is low effort soldering. Pulling from a couple guides here.
Tasmota is local first.
Get a wemos D1 and a https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/vindriktning-air-quality-sensor...
https://tasmota.github.io/install/ flash the unofficial all sensors build.
https://github.com/Hypfer/esp8266-vindriktning-particle-sens... Solder as follows GND to GND on ESP, 5V to 5V on ESP and finally the last one to D2 on the ESP.
Guides I am stealing from. https://github.com/Hypfer/esp8266-vindriktning-particle-sens... Has most of the hardware side. But its using a different software.
https://blakadder.com/vindriktning-tasmota/ is where I got most of the rest of the info but he uses a separate voltage regulator. If you use the Wemos D1 Mini you should not need that.
After that the internet has plenty of info for hooking tasmota and say home assistant together.

IKEA Vindriktning Air Quality Sensor Review and Accuracy
Author here. I forgot to mention:
With a Wemos D1 mini (ESP8266) MCU that costs around USD 2.00, you can pretty easily make the Vindriktning WiFi connected and get the data to a backend [1].
You just need to solder three wires, and there is enough space within the enclosure to fit the D1 mini inside.
This would then allow you to get the exact measurements and to better understand if the "green" is more on the lower end or the higher side.
