Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.
Does anyone know how VPhysics (Source's implementation of Havok) do such a good job at solving the bullet through paper problem?

It all gets petty hairy.. which is why writing physics engines is Hard, and you should be pretty skeptical when someone is like: "Hay gauis I made a new phYsics engine!! you should totally use it!" Even the big guys thrash around in this space.. as someone mentioned in another comment... although there is sometimes a case to be made for rolling your own, if you're valve for instance.. All that said, I'm really partial to Bullet just because it's so damn battle tested (unity/blender and countless other engines) But I'm generally pro havok/physX and also the newer Jolt physics library. https://github.com/NVIDIAGameWorks/PhysX https://github.com/ashconnell/physx-js https://jrouwe.github.io/JoltPhysics/
Nvidia PhysX 5.0 is now open source

Then what about this? https://github.com/NVIDIAGameWorks/PhysX/tree/4.1/physx
y'all forgot that NIS existed.

If you are not constrained to using Gazebo as the simulation environment, I would also suggest pybullet. (Here)[https://github.com/bulletphysics/bullet3/blob/master/examples/pybullet/examples/quadruped.py] is the quadruped simulation script, it is super simple to get it running and also meets your requirements(as mentioned in the question)
Newton Dynamics vs Bullet Physics for Game Engine?
2 projects | reddit.com/r/gamedev | 25 Jan 2022
Someone I know is fond of using the term 'bus factor' when discussing libraries like these, as in "how many people need to get killed by a bus in order for the project to die?" Both Newton and Bullet have a bus factor of 1, meaning 1 particular guy needs to get hit and the lion's share of commit contributions comes to an end, although Bullet bus factor is probably slightly higher than Newton.
I want to make a game for Linux. Where do I even start?

As for physics there's tons of options, but the list gets rather exhaustive when considering 2D and 3D but you have box2d, bullet, and many many more.

Gym provides a library of continuous physics simulations in the form of its MuJoCo environments. Since MuJoCo requires a paid license, I recommend checking out PyBullet as a free open-source alternative. Using PyBullet/MuJoCo, you can teach a variety of robots to walk, run, or swim.

Do you specifically need correct physics in this? If you do, you can just use an existing physics library like Bullet.
