Should I try Paradise Station ?
You don't really see controversial changes get merged. The only example I can think of is Secborgs getting removed, but even then most of the community agreed with it.

Leaving Paradise as a regular, can anyone recommend a good fit?
There is a pr for combat rework, where ranged instastuns get removed, but that might take a while to get merged. https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/pull/15708

Hunting the source of "ambigen14.ogg" or "...Station_VocalNoise4.ogg"
ambigen14.ogg is extremely old; it's present in Goonstation r4407, which means it's at least 11 years old. Talking with Goonstation's old guard would be your best bet.
