What is your favorite open source Linux game? Mine is Wideland (Best way to describe is the way Settlers 3 should have been)
With the amount of streams I have with modded openxcom, I'm pretty sure I'm already addicted to it.
-
What are some older/classic games you would like to see remade as "Enhanced Editions" or completely remade for new hardware?
Well, you're in luck, kind of? OpenXCom is a thing, and if you want more gameplay there's Piratez and The X-Com Files.
X-Com: UFO Defense -> OpenXCom is a thing! :-) I put more time in it than Xenonauts, XCom and XCom-2 combined.

[GOG] Winter Classics up to -90%! Heroes of Might and Magic® 3: Complete (75%), Anno 1404: Gold Edition (75%), Prince of Persia®: The Sands of Time (83%), Port Royale 2 (85%), Might and Magic® 9 (80%), Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest (75%) (10-90% off)
The HD mod has not been the recommended way to play the game in maybe seven or eight years. You want VCMI which is an open source reimplementation project similar to projects like OpenTTD, OpenXCom, OpenRA, OpenRCT2, CorsixTH, and OpenMW.

Where to find OpenXCOM now
However, when I go to the website or the github, the website is down and the github has no Releases.

Did a game ever not "connect/gel" with you for a petty reason?
I'm curious if CorsixTH shares this behavior or not. Haven't played it in a few years. https://github.com/CorsixTH/CorsixTHEdit: No it does not! "Option to remove destroyed rooms for a fee"

[Steam] Summer Sale 2021 (Day 2)
CorsixTH - Theme Hospital
-
OpenSA - A recreation of Swarm Assault game in OpenRA engine.
Great, thanks for clarifying that the assets are not libre, which is exactly the same as Theme Hospital. Have a look at their wording below and see if you would be willing to put something similar in your readme. As you say, it's abandonware, but can you at least make sure the download on first run prompts for confirmation, so the user can make an informed decision about that?
What are some alternatives?
