OctoDash VS OctoScreen

It sounds like you only want it to run when you want, not automatically? I am not sure about Octoscreen, I only used that for a while before switching to Octodash ( no particular reason, I think it was the newer plugin when I was reloading the Rpi). I think Octodash asks if you want to run it automatically during the setup , so there is a procedure to run it only when you went. But it was easier to just run it all the time and I think there was a command to stop it when I didn’t want it. May not help, but though I would mention it. Most popular being probably OctoDash and OctoScreen, and several mobile apps. But also the "Send to printer" button in your slicer uses that API, and of course OctoPrint's UI itself.

Hey i see there is a lot off progress with hacking and using the carthing for multiply applications... I hade an idea of using this to replace or add it to a 3d printer... There is an chrome extension that allows to control a 3d printer with serial output threw usb (gcode-sender). There are some really nice open source interfaces (octo-dash). (just an idea of how it look like). The main question is... can we hack carthing to send serial code through usb or from one of his test point on the board?

You may be able to get similar functionality with OctoDash and Octoprint.

I would like to use a screen, and install Octoscreen in a Raspberry 2 in fact is working but every time that reboot the Octoscreen run automatically, I wanna to use the normal desktop of my Raspberry to another purposes and only I see Octoscreen, how can I install Octoscreen like an app to my raspberry with run after every reboot.

For the printer controls i would recommend OctoScreen for ease of use.

It’s Octoscreen. I use that to have touch controls for when I’m here. Octoprint / spaghetti detective for when I’m away. It all works seamlessly together with the CR-10. You can use any device to control the unit. octocscreen

well having a screen probs would not have save you really because there is just a delay in the gcode the machine gets so when it receives that stop command the damage is done best to rip the power cord instead, but as for connecting look at this https://github.com/Z-Bolt/OctoScreen it may not be what your looking for but just google octoprint display and you can find what your looking for
