JMAP – a much needed modern email open standard
I was hopeful that https://www.nylas.com/ would be the de-facto "adapter" placing a common API surface on top of the major providers and dragging them into a modern-API world. They even had an email client of their own as a proof of concept (forked by one of the original authors as https://github.com/Foundry376/Mailspring - and its reusable core https://github.com/Foundry376/Mailspring-Sync may be interesting to many here). But they've pivoted towards making their API only available behind B2B contracts and opaque pricing, and primarily used for corporate email monitoring and CRM use cases - perhaps because security and privacy considerations are nontrivial. I'm still rooting for them but it's a shadow of what it could have been.

The Future of Thunderbird: Why We’re Rebuilding from the Ground Up
I love Mailspring, it's modern and open source: https://getmailspring.com/
The UI uses Electron, but the actual sync engine is in C++, so it's pretty fast.

Cross Platform Email Client
Mailspring, which is open source, is currently my recommendation for a desktop email client.
- Switched from Windows. My two-day path: here's what I immediately liked and disliked.

How do I find my other apps on the taskbar? I'm using a yoga on portrait mode
For email, I'd like to recommend Mailspring. Free, and the best mail app imo in Windows 11 compared to other similar one.

[List] Let's talk about the software you can't live without. Here is my list
Mailspring - an email client, a good alternative to Thunderbird if you don't like it (Freemium • Open Source)
- The year is 2022, on linux I can: browse the internet, open steam, discord etc. as native clients, adjust my room ambient lightning, play a current AAA title with a 1 click-tweak, edit a YT vector thumbnail and record & edit a video. Never would have dreamt leaving windows would be this comfy.
- A good email client for linux.

Atom Was Archived Today
Heh, just a month ago Adobe Brackets (another Atom clone) did the same https://github.com/adobe/brackets
- GitHub is sunsetting Atom

Sunsetting Atom Text Editor
Oh, that's a good point about the sunsetting. In Brackets's case, Adobe left it active in the hands of the community.
Live Preview in particular is one of the areas I had some fun working on. I worked out a way to do diff/patch to make it quickly and incrementally update the browser[1]

Installing brackets with source code
I just installed linux mint, pretty new to it. I was wondering if anyone can help me install brackets using the source code on github. I found a version of it on snapd but it's a really old version from 2017. What I want to install is from 2020(link:https://github.com/adobe/brackets/releases) Any help?

Need help deciding on a text editor
For html/css/js, I personally have enjoyed using atom, brackets and vscode. I've used all three as my primary at different points and each has it's advantages/disadvantages, I recommend giving them a try! Obviously all three of these will work just fine for python too, but sometimes it's nice to just use a real IDE.
