Is LENOVO VANTAGE really that bad???!
Because you can always disable it and it doesn't have unnecessary sh*t. You can always install Lenovo Legion Toolkit.

If a dev with an IdeaPad Pro 5 gen 8 (83AR) is reading this (LLT support)
Our laptop is not totally supported by Lenovo Legion Toolkit, and the main dev said he only want to support Legion & IdeaPad gaming, but he's open to pull requests to add support to more models.

Just got my new computer. I get this error when I try to log in to the Lenovo Vantage app
I haven't seen that before, but you could consider using https://github.com/BartoszCichecki/LenovoLegionToolkit which is a lightweight replacement for vantage.

I use LLT for automatic resolution switching when a game launches but in case that program doesn't run on your setup here's another way that uses hotkeys to switch resolutions.

Is it worth uninstalling McAfee?
Standard procedure to uninstall McAfee and revert to Windows Defender along with other bloat like OneDrive and you can replace Lenovo Advantage with lightweight Lenovo Legion Toolkit.

Here, if you use Belim's ThisIsWin11 you can get rid of all of the bloatware, install some really handy tweaks and extensions, and make your start menu look like this.

PSA: Windows 7 is not safe. You're not "cool" for using an unsafe operating system.
Move to Linux if you hate new Windows so much, install Windows 11 and strip it down, do something. But don't stay on an OS that isn't receiving security updates.
