Kap is an app to record your screen. I use Kap primarily in my work to record some flow of a website. Kap produces small video sizes with good quality compared to other screen recording apps.

That's cap (did I do it? Am I cool?)... Kap is a free open-source screen recorder built with web technology, click the menu bar icon to bring up the screen recorder. After selecting what portion of the screen you'd like to record, hit the record button to start recording. Click the menu bar icon again to stop the recording. There is also user-made plugins, really good app in my opinion.

Marketing for Developers
Some people learn better visually and some libraries greatly benefit from being shown. Animated gifs or short mov files can be especially useful for simple interactions. I use Kap (free) to create these simpler screenshares.

At this point ConHost.exe is open source [0] so it is maybe not a stretch to expect Microsoft to open source CMD.EXE at some point.
Though with PowerShell being cross-platform and already open source, I personally don't think there's enough to gain in some sort of better open source CMD.EXE fork. I'd be interested in being proved wrong on that, but I'm also happy enough with PowerShell these days I'm not in a hurry to return to CMD.EXE.
