Mods
CKAN is the answer to the download... The hub of most the ksp mods https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN
You'd need to install with CKAN (Sooooo good!)

How do I install Kerbal Foundries on Mac? I put it in Gamedata but it's not showing in game. I really want adjustable landing gear!
I suggest letting CKAN handle installing mods for you. There is a mac release: https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN/releases
Use CKAN, I don't personally use it but it runs well on mac (I use a mac for KSP as well). If you get it, don't get the Juno release as I'm pretty sure that's the version that won't run on Mac, as it's blocked due to being 'unable to certify it's not malware' or something. Any other version should fix that though. https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN/releases

Thinking about making an open source mod manager for Linux?
Compatibility with nexus mods would be great, could look into how nexus mod manager installs it's mods. Looking at NMM's github page would be a start https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Nexus-Mod-Manager
Sounds awesome. Would suggest looking at an existing one https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Nexus-Mod-Manager and basing off of that. Or you could consider contributing to those.
