Homebridge Automation Replacement
I was looking for a way to do this in Homebridge, maybe some sort of scripting replacement for HomeKit automations. I'm sure I can cobble something together using HomeScript and/or homebridge-script2 but I didn't know if there was a more direct solution to move busywork automations off HomeKit and into Homebridge.

Advice Needed: Read/update a device state from/on Homebridge using a different device(RPi) running in the same local network
I can solve for Step 2. by sending a python based requests data over to homebridge (using the port and pin values in homebridge config). I got the idea from this [HomeScript github]([https://github.com/menahishayan/HomeScript/blob/master/homescript/\_\_init\_\_.py#L147), Python requests code section in HomeScript

Control Shades w/ Dimmer?
My take was that he's using the dimmer ONLY for the shades, just as a sensible way to control them physically. As to a solution, look at: https://github.com/menahishayan/HomeScript

A single gateway to rule them all
I have done this, and wrote a book about it: https://koen.vervloesem.eu/books/control-your-home-with-raspberry-pi/.

How do you manage all your software? I’m just starting out on the smart path and need your help to understand rpi setup
I'm managing all these services with Docker Compose. This means I only have to backup one directory with the configuration and data of all services, and one file, the docker-compose.yml file that defines all services. You can find all source code of the book in its repository (https://github.com/koenvervloesem/raspberry-pi-home-automation), to give you an idea about how you would manage this.
