Is It Safe To Download YouTube Videos With Y2Mate?
Probably, though I'd suggest using https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp, or https://github.com/oleksis/youtube-dl-gui if you want a GUI.

"self-update mechanism is disabled on Debian"
I downloaded and installed directly from github, after install I tried the update,sudo yt-dlp -U and it fails with this message: ERROR: Unable to obtain version info; Please try again later or visit https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/releases/latest
This is one of the (rare?) occurrences when installing from github is the preferred method. https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp

Video editing tool(s) without downloading the whole video locally from remote server (YouTube etc)
Try the --download-sections option of yt-dlp. Requires ffmpeg to be installed as well as (obviously) yt-dlp. I have not tried this myself.

Unable to extract uploader id - help please
I'm getting the message "Unable to extract uploader id" when I try to download a YouTube (on terminal). I searched the problem and found this thread mentioning a patch. I copied and pasted what user "bashonly" posted into terminal but I'm still getting the same error message.
What are some alternatives?
