GrapheneOS: The private and secure mobile OS
The developer of GrapheneOS is openly hostile to other similar projects (https://github.com/bromite/bromite/issues/2141 and https://github.com/AOSPAlliance/android-prepare-vendor/issue... are concrete examples). He's done things like relicensing one of his repos to GPLv2-only because a project he had a dispute with is GPLv3-or-later, and that way they can't use his code anymore, but he still gets to call his project FOSS.

Strcat has a long history of these disputes. Most recently he requested the AOSP Alliance also stop using "his" code.

What are some alternatives?
platform_bionic - Hardened Android standard C library. Some of the past hardening has not yet been ported from Marshmallow, Nougat and Oreo to this Android Pie repository. Most is available via archived tags in https://github.com/AndroidHardeningArchive/platform_bionic (check both the most recent Oreo and Nougat tags).

android-prepare-vendor - Set of scripts to automate AOSP compatible vendor blobs generation from factory images
PdfViewer - Simple Android PDF viewer based on pdf.js and content providers. The app doesn't require any permissions. The PDF stream is fed into the sandboxed WebView without giving it access to content or files. CSP is used to enforce that the JavaScript and styling properties within the WebView are entirely static.
