She plays bedrock edition on her iPad. MacOS only supports Java edition. You need something like Geyser to play together or use software like Parallels to install windows on your Mac so you can play bedrock.

The negatives to self host or third party is that xbox/switch/PS users will need to use a loophole redirect service in order to play, but for our group of players, its been worth it. https://github.com/Pugmatt/BedrockConnect

They'll need to use a service like bedrock connect but yes it is 100% possible and i've done the exact same thing in the past.
