    If HPET is not an option in firmware, then it is disabled (0x00) and hidden from you. Which in practice is bad. The only option for users in this case is to download your firmware from the vendor, use this tool to locate the register and set the value with this tool to enabled (0x01).

    It is possible with a little bios edit. I did it with my old asus which I dont have anymore.     explanation: this is where maxdarksol begins skimping on explanation. download the efi file here. It's called modGRUBShell.efi instead of bootx64.efi. It doesn't matter, it's just a file name. Get a usb thumb drive, format it as FAT32. Open it and make a folder called "efi". Then in it another folder called "boot". Then put the modGRUBShell.efi file in it.
