Serial connection to TI Silent 707
More useful is that it confirms that the 707 complies with the Bell v.21 standard. This is only 300 baud. However that makes a phone line very easy to emulate within the popular, open source PBX software Asterisk.

ARI: Trying to play a sound file from URI
For what it's worth, it'd be pretty easy (if you know Asterisk and C) to write an external module that hooks into the existing media_cache stuff and handles the file scheme. Would actually be a bit of fun :-)
In this case, that registered provider is res_http_media_cache which handles http and https. Since there's no provider today that handles file, those error out.
So Josh added something of a 'hook' into the core of Asterisk that allows various external modules to register as media scheme providers. After ARI has figured out that this is a file you want played back and stripped off the sound prefix, it bounces a bit through Asterisk and realizes that what you want is not a sound file in its normal directory location. Eventually the code will check to see if there's something registered that recognizes the scheme, and ask it if it can provide whatever the URI is asking for.
