Of anyone wants to play then there is an open source update for it called CorsixTH. Faithful to the original but it works on modern hardware.

When you play, use the Corsix-TH source port.

The HD mod has not been the recommended way to play the game in maybe seven or eight years. You want VCMI which is an open source reimplementation project similar to projects like OpenTTD, OpenXCom, OpenRA, OpenRCT2, CorsixTH, and OpenMW.

Librelancer - Freelancer clone. C#, OpenGL

There's also Librelancer (Win and Linux) which is an open source Freelancer re-implementation project.

People should check out Librelancer if they get their hands in the game.

Fans of Freelancer should take a look at Librelancer. It's an open source re-implementation of the game for Windows and Linux with high resolution support, multi-threading, better user interface and bug fixes.

The scale of Star Citizen is way larger than Freelancer, and the potential of the game is greater as well since you can do many things in the game. If one day Star Citizen releases and delivered what's promised, the game will last for a very long time. So for the fans, the wait maybe worth it.

(And hopefully it will be released before Elon Musk, NASA, ESA, CNSA or ROSCOSMOS etc give us the real-world version and make us actual 1-heart space-slaves LOL)

For the non-fans, however, the market is largely fulfilled by Elite Dangerous, No Man's Sky etc.
