HOW TO: Record Audio and Screen at the same time on a Mac for FREE!
This tip is certainly good, but I prefer to use blackhole in combination with standard quicktime, then compress the video to mp4 without losing quality using handbrake.

Free Screen Recorder With System Audio
If you want free yet still powerful, check out the open-source kap. Pair it with something like BlackHole to reroute your system audio into kap and you've got a great combo without spending a dime.
Use the built in screen recorder with the cmd + shift + 5 hotkey and then pair it with the free internal audio capture software blackhole or vb-audio cable.

Show HN: Lofi, a Tiny Spotify Player
This is neat!
One note: for loopback on macOS, instead of iShowU Audio Capture Device, one could also use BlackHole, which is open source: https://github.com/ExistentialAudio/BlackHole
And can be installed with brew:
brew install blackhole-2ch

Best high quality screen recorder with audio for Snow Leopard?
For Snow Leopard you should have a look at Soundflower. It's the OG tool for recording desktop audio output, and should still work on Snow Leopard (if the version linked doesn't work then you can try building the version from 2008 in the command line, it doesn't seem to be too complicated).

If Blackhole isn't working, or you've an older system, instead try Soundflower and follow these directions - even though they're old as grit, it lays out the basics of what you need to do the clearest.

osci-render v1.13.0 demonstration - my open-source oscilloscope music software
Just download VB-CABLE for windows or Soundflower for Mac (loopback is another paid software). Then route the OUT-audio from osci-render. And lastly just change your mic input to the software you use (i.e VB, Soundflower) in the oscilloscope app. Looks really great for me! Hope it helps

"Guide": Discord Stream Audio using Soundux (Thanks!)
We are planning to support macOS in the future. It will work in a similar way like Soundux on Windows. You can use Soundflower to create a virtual audio device which you can use to play something on it. We tried to compile it on macOS via macOS-Simple-KVM but when trying to launch the binary it says something like "Invalid hardware instruction"
What are some alternatives?
