They also recommend only installing it in an "VPS environment"(Virtual Private Serer) because it overwrites your .bashrc or .zshrc files depending on your preferred Shell.

From what I've seen in the past, ffmpeg doesn't retain the HDR status. I use a program called Tricycle to convert mine whilst retaining the HDR settings.

I have used https://github.com/kmcclive/tricycle in the past and it works great. I have also used the other link recommended and it also works great. I like the fastflix because it shows you the cli command. Both are based on ffmpeg. For ease of use I recommend tricycle.
