Learn AutoHotKey by stealing my scripts
I've had some good experiences with using Luamacros to intercept a second keyboard and forward the keypresses to autohotkey like this: https://miquelvir.medium.com/secondkeyboard-1c39e52e023b
Apparently there is also this: https://github.com/evilC/AutoHotInterception
- Can I turn any numbered/keypad into a macropad for shortcuts and productivity?
-
How do I hotkey one keyboard but not the other.
I've managed to "accomplish" that with AHKHID (and I don't even recall if I got it working with AHI)... while the keyboards can be differentiated is *S*L*O*W*, so normal typing (even slow typing) is not quite possible (let alone a standard-ish 100+ WPM).

This is awesome, i don't know how she handles the second device input, someone knows how to do it ? it is possible on JS? It would work with a second simple keyboard?
I did a bit more Googling and eventually found this GitHub repository that sounds like it can already do what you're looking for:

Can AutoHotkey intercept the sleep button on my keyboard?
Since I'm a bit obsessive, I plugged the thing and tried even with AutoHotInterception which is a kernel level driver. Seems like this keyboard sends the system message directly, so no luck there.

Keyboard Specific Hotkeys
It's worth noting there's an AHK library for handling the intercept-driver stuff called AutoHotInterception.

Joystick Gremlin and Multiple Keyboards
After you've installed AutoHotKey and AutoHotInterception, run the Monitor.ahk script in the AHI folder to figure out your secondary keyboard's VID/PID. Copy-paste it in the code below.

Use AutoHotkey for Corsair Scimitar to replace driver software for keymapping, (driver is causing serious issues). Macro-buttons are identified only as D1, D2, etc.
If not, tap into the USB-HID class exposed by the OS: AHKHID or at kernel level with AutoHotInterception, both are pretty different and both have its quirks/perks.

Learn AutoHotKey by stealing my scripts
> I have swapped Caps Lock and Escape on my Linux personal laptop and I have grown used to it.
I'd also suggest "home row modifier keys" (or "home row mods").
The idea is to have the key behave the same when tapped, but differently if held. (e.g. https://github.com/evilC/TapHoldManager implements this for AHK)
With home row modifiers, Shift/Ctrl/Win/Alt are put underneath fdsa (and jkl;). -- This reduces the need to use pinky fingers for these keys, & the fingers get to remain on home row more.

Laptop Users, how do you feel when switching to standard QWERTY?
Are you running Windows? If so here's the relevant bits of my script. Also worth a look - https://github.com/evilC/TapHoldManager

tapping, double tap and triple tap
I agree with TheNoobPolice (as usual), and TapHoldManager can be found on evilC's GitHub.
Like the good u/G1ZM03K said, TapHoldManager is the way to go as is a battle tested method (5+ years and hundreds of users). It also plays nice with AutoHotInterception which is a handler for a keyboard kernel driver.

Joystick Gremlin and Multiple Keyboards
Since you mentioned VR, I suppose you could try TapHoldManager which will allow you to double/triple/long press (any # of taps really) your KB buttons. I didn't suggest it earlier since you I assumed you would be putting stickers on your macro KB.
