Audnexus.bundle
- Is there an Arr (Radarr, Sonarr, etc) programm that can download audiobooks?
-
Using Plex for audiobooks
https://github.com/djdembeck/Audnexus.bundle gets you meta-data updating.
-
Martha Wells, A.G. Riddle, and More Audiobooks from Recorded Books
Also I noticed Audiobook.bundle is no longer being actively worked on and has been moved to a different project, Audnexus. If you want to try it, I would use Audnexus because it has a release in March.

I am ruined by Amazon’s evil and will never get my money or my property back.
If you don't know about Plex, it's a service where you set up your own media server. It's not designed with Audiobooks in mind but I created a Music Library and only put Audiobooks in it. Plex is great and for regular media it will scan all your files and organize it and all the the details, summaries, catalogue and everything as if it were a regular streaming services; but since it's not designed for audiobooks you need to add an audiobook source for it to pull details from. I added Audnexus as my source, it works great.
- Audiobook matching has stopped working
- Plex needs an audio book style library
-
Channel Section Not Available
Third-party metadata agents/scanners still work (e.g. Audnexus is a popular one for getting better audiobook metadata), but there are very few others that do. Ones that relied on their own UI (e.g. anything that integrated with services like Spotify, YouTube, etc) don't work anymore, and haven't for 4+ years. You'll see their entry in the Plugins menu in your server settings, but you can't do anything beyond that because the UI it relied on was removed.
- Best way to curate audio books on plex server installed on Windows?
-
Audio books on server
Yes, it's fairly common. In lieu of "official" support, the third-party agent Audnexus can help with organizing things, pulling from online databases that the regular Plex Music agent doesn't (e.g. Audible), and setting tags that can help with navigation (e.g. setting the Style to the narrator, so you can filter to specific narrators).

Is it worth it to convert my media library?
I have been using MP4 automator for over 5 years; https://github.com/mdhiggins/sickbeard_mp4_automator . I choose MP4 as it works on preety much any device i have ever tryied, H264, AAC stereo and AC3 5.1. Have also used Tdarr for H265 conversion; it really uses 35-50% less space for same quality (4k and I wasnt able to see difference).
-
Which Radarr repository do you use?
They do extended versions of some existing containers that add extra stuff. I use sabnzbd-extended for the SMA support.
-
need some advice on media managers
SMA, Automatically converts media files to a standardized format, and tags them with the appropriate metadata from TMDB if the container supports tagging. Made to integrate with Radarr, Sonarr, etc. but can be run stand alone. Python required (3+, although 2.7 was still supported, last I knew). Free. https://github.com/mdhiggins/sickbeard_mp4_automator

What's a really niche tool you use that you can't live without?
Sickbeard mp4 Automator for media conversation and metadata matching. Combined with mediaelch for bulk renaming and poster downloads, they’re essential for plex hosting. Also use subler for quick metadata/language code fixes.
- Is there a way to force Jellyfin to remux all MKV to MP4?
-
Add transcoding to my Setup
You can use something like the following to automate the transcoding: https://github.com/mdhiggins/sickbeard_mp4_automator
- Recently found out about Tdarr and it has saved me so much space so far! Also, now I get to directly stream my media over Plex, without any transcoding needed! Highly recommend it!

Synology radarr & sonarr-SMA docker close but not quite there
Going back to https://github.com/mdhiggins/sickbeard_mp4_automator, I was following the steps for sonarr/radarr and went to add a connection (custom script). Browsed to /usr/local/sma/postSonarr.py and clicked the test button, and I got an error that the script exited with -1. I am wondering if it has something to do with this weird instruction from the github page:
- Automatic encoding after download complete
- M1 Mac mini as Headless server or wait for M2 mac mini with this use case
