Arch in WSL
Don't use it anymore but used it for a number of years after WSL came out. It involved some combination of https://github.com/yuk7/ArchWSL and Xming X. Worked great.
Roll your own or use something like https://github.com/yuk7/ArchWSL

My company forces me to use Cringedows, what can I do to suffer less?
• If you live in the linux terminal, I recommend installing WSL with a distro you like (I use arch here btw).

WSL - Microsoft Linux
It uses a customized version of the Linux kernel (repo) that integrates with the host Windows OS. You can build any distro on top of that kernel, as people have done with (of course) Arch. The distro isn't any less "real" than a distro that it run on QEMU (and with a level 1 hypervisor, all systems that uses one are technically virtualized already).

I'm stumped
Sorry to hear you've been having issues with this! I've recently started using vanilla vim with an Arch WSL distro here https://github.com/yuk7/ArchWSL and that's been working very well. Maybe Arch will work better with neovim than Ubuntu (if you're not against the learning curve of getting arch set up). I get it if it's not for you. Hope you can get it all figured it out!

How do you set up the PC port of A Link to the Past on Steam Deck?

wsl-archlinux-manager: An efficient & easy strategy to install and manage Arch Linux instances on WSL.
bash distroname config I installed Arch by essentially pulling the RootFS from a mirror and making it WSL friendly, so there was basically no way for me to configure or extend on this whatsoever. I did find this, but I found it suspicious after going through a bit of the source as there was virtually no build instructions on how the RootFS was built but rather just a magical prebuilt one.
