Why wont my amaze file manager show up in my unknown sources?
I installed app-fdroid-release.apk from here without issue. It appears in Unknown Sources and I can run it. Whatever installation method you are using must be silently failing.

What is your favorite app that doesn't have a good open source alternative?
I think you'd like Amaze and Material Files. They both don't have an option for webdav though.
